Yeah, baby! Looks like it’s time to kick ass and chew bubble gum again – and we’re still all out of gum! Someone allegedly close to the source has sent screenshots to Kotaku that suggest, pretty heavily, that everyone’s favorite FPS – Duke Nukem 3D – is headed towards XBLA.
Personally, I think that just kicks ass. I have been wondering how long it was going to be before classic shooters like this and Dark Forces showed up. I remember way back in the day in an Xbox.com forum Microsoft pollsters wanted to know what games people wanted on XBLA – and I would guesstimate that at least 90% asked for both of those games. I would also guess that 100% asked for a certain Bond game…
Anyway, this seems to suggest that release is pretty close. A commenter on the story message boards has posted:
No, several people have checked (myself included), and this is real. If you’re a developer, you can go on PartnerNet and see the things other developers have uploaded there. The price is temporary because prices are meaningless on PartnerNet and so they can put whatever the heck they want there.
Of course, the only proof it is real is release. But THIS FPS addict here is pretty damn stoked and pretty convinvced. If someone has faked ’em, not only have they spent a long time recreating the background “swoosh” on the dashboard, they also went to the trouble of setting up fake achievements:
So we shall watch Major Nelson’s blog carefully to see any comments on this. It’s unlikely it would be mentioned at E3 in the Microsoft presser…I’m pretty sure they have other more important releases to discuss. If anything, this will help pass the time until Duke Nukem Forever comes out. Oh, wait…
Come get some!
